HEIDI GOTTFRIED

  • A contemporary artist, who paints in her studio by the Monterey Bay in Pajaro Valley.
  • Uses a variety of media, specializing in oil based pigments and transparent watercolor.
  • Has been painting in Santa Cruz County and the Pajaro Valley for over twenty years.
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from San Jose State University.
  • Associate in Arts degree from Cabrillo College.
  • For the past four years she has featured Watsonville's historic and contemporary landmarks and the Latino contribution to the fields, economy, and daily life of the people of the Pajaro Valley.
  • An Open Studio's artist for over ten years, her work is exhibited in the Monterey Bay region and in private collections throughout the central coast.
  • 2001 - started teaching art at the Watsonville Charter School of the Arts and Freedom Elementary School. She enjoys working with children of all ages to build their artistic skills both on individual projects and collaborative pieces.
  • 2003 - she was commissioned to design and paint the Santa Cruz County Fair Poster and had one of her China artworks selected from over 600 juried pieces to be included in "El Rio, Images of the River" at the McPherson Center for Art and History in Santa Cruz.
  • 2004 - One of her Watsonville paintings was chosen to be part of a juried art exhibit, "Images of California Agriculture", at the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas.
